I just painted and redrew the squished bugs, from the original lineart : [link]
Despite the lack of background scene, the result was reasonable. But the lineart he made was good.
In this drawing, Misty / Kasumi and Whitney / Akane (who stayed with an adolescent appearance, as you can see) are crushing and squishing bugs (cockroaches and centipedes). Even a cockroach egg case was crushed.
The expressions on their faces show a combination of pleasure and calm. Definitely, they have no fear of normal bugs (Of course, Misty / Kasumi would not be so calm if he saw a bug pokemon near her feet).
